Who Else?

Future Casting

Nike

“I don’t want to talk about marketing. I hate marketing. I want to build Nike 2.0.” That was our brief.

This was my first time at Nike and we were meeting with a guy name Tagu Kato. Mod Op had been working with Nike for a couple years, doing mostly digital work and some back end development. So for most of our team, this type of ask sounded crazy. But, this was Nike. And I’d grown up obsessed with sports and sneakers. So, there was no way I wasn’t leading this.

What Tagu was trying to figure out was how Nike would evolve. How were they going to show up in the world for people? How would they adapt to the new reality of constant connection and consumers who care?

We spent that fall researching, strategizing, and developing concepts. I also scripted an anthem to articulate the vision and inspire decision makers at Nike. That video became our calling card on campus over the last few years as an intro to Mod Op in countless meetings.

Tagu is at ESPN now. But the work we did together still resonates at Nike. It connected a lot of like minds and helped create momentum for where Nike is going next.
